Overview

Filmed over 10 years, the documentary follows an Indian fishing village in the Gulf of Kutch as it takes on global financial giants for funding a coal-fire plant, that threatens the villagers’ livelihoods and the area’s biodiversity. With a poetic and observational lens, the film explores their legal battle and profound bond with the environment, posing a powerful question: can the resilience of a community rewrite the rules of global power—or will the might of corporations and institutions crush their fight for justice?

The screening will be followed by a Q&A and discussion in the presence of the Film Director, Sheena Sumaria with Is'haq Abubakar Mohamed, Vice-Chairperson of Save Lamu, Lamu Environmental Protection and Conservation. Conversation will be moderated by Zahid Rajan, Publisher, Awaaz Magazine.
